FutureRise Economic Mobility Fellowship

The FutureRise Economic Mobility Fellowship provides an opportunity for emerging leaders to contribute to high-impact work shaping the future of education, workforce development, and economic opportunity. Fellows work directly with senior leadership, institutional partners, employers, philanthropy, and public-sector leaders on initiatives designed to strengthen pathways into high-demand careers and improve long-term outcomes for learners and workers. The fellowship offers diverse and challenging responsibilities, including:

Research, Strategy, and Systems Innovation
Fellows will support research, analysis, and strategy development related to economic mobility, workforce development, postsecondary innovation, employer engagement, talent pipeline development, and systems change. The role is designed for individuals who can synthesize information, identify patterns, connect ideas across sectors, and help translate strategy into action.

Responsibilities include:

●        Conduct research and analysis on credential outcomes, workforce program effectiveness, and scalable models in postsecondary and workforce innovation.

●        Synthesize literature, data, and field insights into clear briefs, memos, and analyses for internal strategy and external audiences.

●        Support outcomes tracking and evaluation across the FutureRise grantee portfolio.

●        Lead one anchor research project with a defined deliverable -- for example a synthesis brief on scalable workforce models or an outcomes analysis across the BOS portfolio.

●        Identify patterns and emerging questions across FutureRise's work to inform strategy.

Secondary Contributions: The Fellow will have opportunities to contribute to communications, narrative, and grant strategy work including providing research inputs to The Rise Report, supporting the development of funder briefing materials, and contributing to grantee progress tracking.

Success Criteria: By the end of the Fellowship, the Fellow will have completed one publishable research brief or strategic analysis, contributed to grantee outcomes tracking across the portfolio, and built familiarity with FutureRise’s funder and field relationships.

Required Qualifications

●        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling insights for different audiences

●        Strong storytelling instincts and interest in strategic communications, narrative development, and audience engagement

●        Deep curiosity about economic mobility, talent development, postsecondary pathways, and the future of work

●        Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment

●        Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take initiative, solve problems, and contribute across functions

●        Experience using data, evidence, or lived professional experience to improve outcomes for students, workers, or communities

●        Passion for improving access to pathways that lead to long-term economic opportunity

Preferred Qualifications

●        Experience in communications, writing, social media, newsletter development, or storytelling

●        Experience in grant writing, philanthropy, nonprofit operations, or program administration

●        Experience in research, evaluation, workforce development, or project management

●        Familiarity with challenges facing learners navigating education-to-career pathways

●        Experience working in high-performing schools, nonprofits, public systems, or mission-driven organizations

●        Comfort working across sectors and engaging with leaders from education, business, philanthropy, and government

●        Experience organizing information, tracking progress, and managing projects or deliverables across multiple stakeholders

Details
We are seeking fellows who can commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week. Fellowship timing may be flexible based on candidate availability and organizational priorities. Compensation will be provided through a competitive monthly stipend.
